FAQ's
Q: What is a professional dynamic?
A: A professional dynamic is a specific type of dynamic where monetary exchange is involved. A person may choose to engage in a professional dynamic in order to gain experience, overcome trauma, explore themselves, or for a number of reasons.
Q: So it's like hiring a sex worker?
A: While supportive of the sex work industry, Solaris considers professional domination to be sex work adjacent, not sex work. BDSM is not inherently sexual, and being a submissive to Solaris and the other professional Dominants at House Noir is not like hiring a vanilla sex worker. If your interests lie in sex, not BDSM, you should look elsewhere.
Q: How can I become one of your submissives?
A: House Noir prides itself on providing discreet, safe, and luxurious experiences. Becoming a submissive requires a membership to House Noir, which enables you to attend parties, classes, book private sessions, etc. Becoming a member requires a confidential application to be filled out in person. This will include providing a criminal background check and recent STD/STI test results (specifically for HIV/AIDS). You may request a specific Dominant.
-
I'm not submissive, or not always submissive, but would still like to attend events/classes, etc. What is the membership process for me?
A: We do have memberships for Tops/Dominants, etc. or those just exploring as well. Message us for more information.
Q: How do I start the process?
A: You may message this account. We will gather some basic information and discuss your needs. If it appears to be a good fit, you may schedule an introductory meeting and a session. We require a booking fee, which covers your membership and applies to your first session. After that, you will meet with Solaris or Soren and you may fill out the application. Once your membership has been approved, you will receive access to our calendar of events, group, and receive instructions regarding negotiating your first session/contract with your Dominant.
Q: What should I expect with my first session?
A: Extra time is built into first sessions so that your Dominant may spend time discussing and negotiating with you. Each will have their own particular approach to this. Together you will both decide how you will serve them. Education will be provided as necessary.
Q: How much do memberships/sessions cost?
A: Memberships are included with a start-up package for new submissives. These packages start at $250 and include all membership application fees, your welcome package, and an hour and a half introductory session. More information on tribute may be found here. Our dungeon is also available to reserve for private scenes.
Q: Are there any costs regarding toys, etc?
A: This is a common ploy engaged by scammers that tends to be predatory in nature (i.e. before you meet, with few photos and no offers of references, etc). Please do not honor these kinds of requests from strangers you meet online. You may respectfully request references or information on the experience level of the individual(s) you wish to serve. While we do require a non-refundable booking fee in the case of no-shows, etc. there are no costs other than those listed and agreed upon.
-
But all pay for play is a scam!
-
No, it isn't. If you're uninterested in paying for the experience, feel free to go elsewhere. Professional Dominants in our space have dedicated great amounts of time and money to be able to provide excellent experiences. They have lifestyle play partners to meet their personal needs, and so are only extending the offer to have professional sessions on the basis of being paid. They would be highly unlikely to want to play with you outside of that kind of an arrangement. Paying for an education and experience is a great way to get started in the lifestyle and explore your likes and dislikes, as experienced submissives are more likely to find lifestyle Dominants who will accept them.
Q: What services do you offer?
A: House Noir is a full service BDSM dungeon that offers selections from a number of dynamic types, kinks, fetishes, activities, etc. Our Dominants seek continuing education in their activities of choice. You may visit the profile listing of each Dominant to see more of their specialties. We also offer professional photography services, dungeon rentals, parties, educational workshops, private lessons, etc.
Q: What is the etiquette for approaching a Dominant?
A: You still want to prepare to impress your Dominant. As a submissive, it is your role to serve them. Your particular Dominant will negotiate specifics with you, but there are some rules of thumb to remember.
1- Use your manners. Being polite and friendly is never a bad thing. Bratting should always be negotiated.
2- Use a level of formality and deference. This may not be as formal as scene speech, but writing or addressing as though you were inquiring for a job interview is a great way to give a good impression and demonstrate that you are serious.
3- Respect boundaries, and no means no. Dominants may deny requests from submissives at any point. Accept this graciously and do not push. This includes respecting the gender identity of your Dominant.
4- Remember your role. As a submissive, your role is to serve your Dominant. Professional Dominants are providing a service, but the innate rules of power dynamics still apply.
Q: What kind of etiquette applies to sessions or parties?
A: See this writing for more information.
Q: I identify as a woman and/or a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Am I welcome?
A: We welcome all genders and identities. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and sensitive to all needs. This includes the asexual spectrum community who still enjoy BDSM. Women or woman-identifying individuals may choose to see a professional to ensure their safety, gain experience, or work through fears/trauma, or as a way to treat themselves.
Q: I am part of a couple/poly group. Can my partner(s) watch/join?
A: Typically, yes. However, we have couple/group specific packages and the details of such must be negotiated with your Dominant. This is a great opportunity for cuckold pairings, those new to BDSM to learn, etc.
-
But my partner isn't interested in being submissive or they want to Dominate me. Are they still welcome?
A: Again, the specifics would need to be negotiated with the Dominant of choice, but we have several whose specialty is providing these kinds of scenes.
Q: What kind of behavior is prohibited?
A: We have a strict sobriety policy. Alcohol or illegal drugs are not permitted during sessions or on the premises. Firearms or other weaponry are not allowed. Aggressive or threatening behavior are not tolerated. Illegal or unethical behavior is not allowed; this includes anything with minors or individuals incapable of consent. We stand proudly against animal cruelty. Stalking or blackmailing behavior will not be tolerated. House Noir is not a brothel, escort service, etc. We do not offer prostitution. Individuals are paying for access to education and the time of professionals. Anything that occurs within that framework is between consenting adults who are aware of risks. The location of the play space may not be shared, as the address will be given to members only.
Q: What are your COVID-19 and cleanliness measures?
A: We require either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 rapid test (provided in-house). We ask that individuals not feeling well or who have been exposed to an illness reschedule. While we have a no-refund policy, in the case of illness or risk of exposure, we are happy to apply that amount to a different booking. Our dungeon undergoes disinfecting and sterilization on all surfaces before and after every session. We do everything we can to mitigate the risks of both BDSM and the spread of illness.
Q: I would like more than one Dominant in a single scene and/or to try several different Dominants. Is that possible?
A: Yes, this is possible and negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Q: Will anyone know I'm visiting a professional Dominant?
A: You are assured reasonable discretion. We do have an individual to serve as security and provide assistance/spotting for scenes at all times. We do encourage individuals who are partnered in some way to be ethical and obtain their partner's consent before booking a session, and we are happy to answer the questions partners may have/help partners negotiate boundaries. No photos will be taken and/or shared of your sessions without prior consent. Information regarding your interests are not shared. A submissive name may be given to protect your identity. Some choose to wear hoods to further protect their identity. Security cameras are located on the premises for the safety of all involved. We do reserve the right to call emergency services in the event of a medical emergency.
Q: I have specific health and/or mobility concerns. Am I still welcome?
A: We welcome individuals with all kinds of specific needs. Currently, accessing our play space does require navigating a small number of stairs. Beyond that, we are capable of negotiating around health concerns, injuries, mobility concerns, or other access and functional needs to ensure you have the best experience possible.
Q: Do I need to remove my clothing?
A: The majority of BDSM activities may be done fully clothed, so no. It is not a requirement. We are, however, a body positive and inclusive play space. Certain activities may require removing or moving clothing to access the skin of particular areas, though you may decline those activities if you do not wish to undress.
